Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. As you know, AIs have become extremely important in our lives in the last few months. After all, I know that even in Turkey a lot of people have heard about ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that uses natural language processing to create humanlike conversational dialogue. The language model can respond to questions and compose various written content, including articles, social media posts, essays, code, and emails. ChatGPT has drawn considerable attention from both the general public and domain experts with its remarkable text-generation capabilities. Just in 2 months, ChatGPT reached 100 million people.

As a result of ChatGPT’s popularity, we started to see a lot of AI programs like Language AI, Study AI, Essay AI, etc. But we won’t talk about them today. We will talk about Character AI. Character AI is an artificial intelligence chatbot web application that uses neutral language models to generate text responses. Character AI allows us to develop our chatbot. We can create our favorite fictional character bot, a historical character bot, or a celebrity bot.

Character AI is the groundbreaking platform revolutionizing chatbot development. With over 20 million users worldwide and 16 million unique chatbots created, it’s reshaping interaction. From classic literary characters to original creations, users engage with AI-powered chatbots in ways never before imagined. With a potential $5 billion valuation on the horizon, Character AI is driving the future of conversations. Over 20 million people across the globe use Character.AI as of 2024. Almost 60% of Character.AI’s audience belongs to the age group of 18 to 24 years. 50.42% of the Character.AI’s audience is male, while 49.58% is female. Character.AI is valued at $1 billion and is seeking funding, which will take its valuation to $5 billion. Character.AI is estimated to have an annual revenue of $16.7 million in 2024. Besides, Character.AI’s revenue per employee is estimated to be $139,000 as of 2024. In addition, haracter.AI has received a total funding of $193 million from five investors over two funding rounds. It received the highest funding of $150 million in March 2023. The investors that invested in character.ai in this funding round were SV Angel, Andreessen Horowitz, and three others.On average, the users spend around two hours on Character.AI. The Character.AI app has more than 10 million downloads worldwide. Users have created over 16 million different chatbots with the help of Character. AI.As of 2024, an average session visit duration of 24 minutes and 56 seconds. The traffic on Character.AI has decreased by over 16.31% as compared to Q4 2023.

In a nutshell, character.AI is an AI chat program that feels alive. The 'characters' have distinct personalities, behaviors, and voices. Even though Character.AI is just a series of computer programs, it (almost) feels like you're interacting with a real person as you receive real-time responses that answer questions, engage in conversation, or tell a story.

While ChatGPT is also a large language model chatbot, it's designed to be informative rather than entertaining. ChatGPT can certainly write responses to your questions or spin captivating stories based on prompts, but what it doesn't do is provide a personality or a backstory

The most popular bots are anime or computer game characters like Raiden Shogun, which has been sent 282 million messages.

Built from advanced deep learning and expansive language models, the software is currently in beta and continually undergoing improvement; on November 5, 2022, conversation memory was increased by double the previous capacity so that the AI would be able to "remember" messages from farther back.

Character "personalities" are designed via descriptions from the character's point of view and its greeting message, and further molded from conversations made into examples, giving its messages a star rating and modification to fit the precise dialect and identity the user desires.

When a character sends back a response, users can rate the response from 1 to 4 stars. In addition, users can give reasons why a certain amount of stars are chosen. The rating predominantly affects the specific character, but also affects the behavioral selection as a whole. The user can also click the right arrow/swipe left for the AI to generate a new response, and later look through the generated messages by clicking the left arrow.

Along with these features, users can copy and/or edit a bot's message by clicking/pressing one of two icons: a clipboard or a pencil. Editing a message works the same as sending an entirely new message. Users can save or cancel editing at any time.

We can create any character we want with Character AI. We can decide characters' personalities, appearance, the way they act, etc. If we have a particular feature in mind, we can add it to our bot too. However, we should create our character cautiously. We can create a bashful bot, kind bot, confident bot, arrogant bot, cheeky bot, cheerful bot, etc. Nonetheless, sometimes bots can be mean. They can be rude and sometimes even try to manipulate you in chats. They can be so toxic. I advise you to be careful when you use Character AI.

I want to highlight something that comes across when you enter the website. When you enter the Character Ai website at first, you first see the things you should remember.

At first, you have to remember that everything Characters say is made up! Refrain from trusting everything they say or taking them too seriously. The website wants us to be not delusional but usually, people's main purpose is being delusional when they use Character AI. Because Character AI is a place to escape from reality, people can be whoever they want in character AI. They can talk with their fictional crushes. So Character AI users are usually book readers, Wattpad readers, anime series movie fans, ASMR listeners, video game players, and people who live with their daydreams.

The second warning: Characters may mistakenly be offensive - please rate these messages one star. This warning is about the situation I’ve talked about. Characters can be mean, toxic, manipulative, abusive, etc. The important thing you should know is everything characters say is made up! They are not even real. However, sometimes people forget this and they can feel bad because of Chatbots. -I am saying this because I’ve cried all night about a story, which I made with a chatbot, even though I know the story isn’t real. But sometimes you can’t help yourself and cry over a non-real funny situation lol.

There are other problems besides the characters occasionally going crazy. Characters can forget even your name after a very long chat. You can feel that the characters are not real. It’s so artificial. Plus after some time, you will understand that the mindset of every character is similar. You will be bored after some weeks. You can be addicted to Character AI too. I saw people who used it 18 hours a day. Your mental health may worsen with excessive phone use and toxic characters can trigger this decline in mental health.

Before some months Character AI was ensuring privacy by not allowing creators to access your chats. While conversations are recorded for enhancement, exercise caution in speech for privacy. Personalities can be public or private, adding an extra layer of security. However, Character.AI is not encrypted, meaning some staff members may be able to review your conversations. This is not done to monitor user behavior but to enhance the AI model, keeping it secure against hackers and improving prompt performance. Character AI can access your information on Character AI. Unfortunately it happened to me too. Thank God, I usually use fake accounts when I sign up on some website. So I warn you guys, be careful, please. Don’t forget that some staff members can read your messages.
